Wow, that’s a mouthful. If you program in Actionscript 3 much, or have any interest in visualization tricks for flash, this will interest you. The guys at prefuse are in the process of porting their popular java visualization library to Actionscript 3 as “Flare“. As somebody who has a legitimate interest in advanced graphing in flash, this is big news.

The prefuse library contains quite the collection of visualization classes for flash. The demo doesn’t only cover cool little effects, but also goes into depth with things like pie charts, bar graphs and line charts.

I’d like to extend a little thank you to the guys at prefuse. As a programmer, I know things like this are an extreme challenge to maintain and program from the ground up. I’d like to donate to the cause, but they not only don’t have a donate button, but they also barely even tell you who they are. So, here’s my contribution offer: Guys are prefuse, if you come across this, get in touch with me and we’ll see what we can do about prettying up that website of yours. It’s not a huge offer compared to what you guys put out there, but I’d like to show my gratitude as I do intend to use Flare for my next milestone release of skinnyr.
